Mine Falls Park is centrally located in Nashua between the Nashua River and the three-mile long power canal. It is a 325 acre park which highlights the city's natural and historical heritage. In 1992, the park trails were designated part of the New Hampshire Heritage Trail system, which extends 130 miles along the Merrimack River from Massachusetts to Canada. The Park has seven access points to enjoy hiking, walking, snow shoeing, cross-country skiing, and fishing. You will access the park using the Whipple Street Entrance.

CLUES:
Enter the park and cross over the bridge and head toward the Soifert soccer fields. At the large rock, turn left and walk a short distance up the trail until you see two rocks on the right with a path between. Follow this path. It loops along the Nashua River and around the sports fields.

Follow this path keeping the fields to the right until you come to a cell tower. Immediately after, there will be a tree on your right with trail marker “135B” on it. Go down the path opposite the tree toward the river. At the bottom of the hill near a sign identifying the “Gray Birch,” turn right. You will now be walking along the trail with the river on your left. Soon you will come to two more signs identifying “Mountain Laurel” and “Eastern Hemlock.” Between the signs there is big two trunk oak. Behind it will be the first box.

Continue along the path. You will travel up a hill with a bench at the top. Continue walking along the trail and you will notice a large wall of rocks across the river. Soon after, you will come to a bridge. About 20 steps BEFORE the bridge there is a three and 1/4 trunked-tree with trail marker “110B” on it. The second box will be between the trunks.

Cross the bridge and continue through a forest of red pines. Rejoining the original path that loops the fields, bear left and continue through a rotting log split in two. The trail turns right at a slight peninsula. Look here for trail marker “90B.” See that stump to the right? It's NOT there...Take 25 steps further along the trail. You should end at a "V" shaped oak on the left. Turn right and take 15 steps off the path to a large pine. The third and final box is hidden beside the fallen tree just about where it meets the pine.

Continue down the path and take a right at the next major intersection. This will bring you back to where you began.
