Bees" Knees
This box was missing on July 24, 2013.
This box was removed because of flooding in 7/06 and replaced on 8/2/06. This stamp is not handcarved.
Go to Riverbend Park and follow the signs to the Nature Center (note: it is closed except for special events).
Park in the lot, find the Paw-Paw Trail and follow it across a footbridge to a service road. Turn right on the road and follow it till you come to a pond (about 7 minutes) on the left. Follow the narrow footpath that goes around the pond. Near the far end of the pond, after several fallen trees, you will find an old, rotting fallen tree with a large notch cut in it. Follow this tree to its moss-covered rootball. Two steps east is a decaying hollow log. Bees' Knees is tucked in here.
This is an easy 1-mile (total) walk, but the return is uphill, so if you have children keep this in mind. Also, there are no bathrooms here. You may want to stop first at the Visitors Center where there are nice clean bathrooms.
