---IF YOU SEARCH FOR THIS BOX BEFORE ME, LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU FIND!

The town of Loudon is located along NH Route 106, just four miles north of Concord. To reach your destination, find the intersection of Route 106 and Route 129. If you are coming from the south on 106, turn left into Loudon Village at the traffic light. If you are coming from the north on Route 106, turn right at the traffic light. You will drive a very short distance (notice the Maxfield Public Library on the left), and bear right at the fork, down the hill to the stop sign. Turn right, go over a small bridge by the Mill Pond, and notice Church Street straight ahead on your right. Also notice a large white sign for Loudon Congregational Church directly in front of you. Turn right onto church street. The meetinghouse sits atop the hill.
You may park anywhere in front of the building, which was erected in 1829. It has an interesting Italianate steeple, a dome atop a set of columns and arches, and the double doors, common to old New England churches and town halls. It is an example of one of the last of its kind on the inside: the sanctuary has side pews, two aisles, and one large set of joined center pews in the middle. This style, which had been more common in the 1700s, was, by the early to mid-1800s, giving way to the increasingly popular center aisle design. The kitchen, fellowship hall, offices, and Sunday School classrooms were added about 30 years ago.
Facing the building, and standing between the two green doors, walk to the door nearest the flag pole. This is the door used most often on Sunday mornings. You will notice the granite steps leading up to the door. You will find your treasure hidden to the left of the front steps down in the bushes. You may take the box over to the picnic table between the meetinghouse and the fellowship hall to record your visit. Please be sure to replace the box carefully in its hiding place. And if you come letterboxing on a Sunday morning, come on in. Aw, come on. There's coffee!!!
