~***The carving in this box is a mature theme. If you are offended at all by the adult female body, PLEASE do not hunt for this box.***

You will need markers for this box.

Have you ever heard a sad, seafaring tale? No! Then I will have to tell you one that I have just learned of recently.

There was once a mighty captain, Captain Peter TownsEnd to be exact. He was the captain of the SS Beebe. He had travelled many times on the great Atlantic Ocean, stopping at many little Coves, with not a single mishap. He was trusted and brave and all that knew him spoke highly of his abilities.

He had but one weakness...MUSIC! Oh, the things he would do for a beautiful tune... Now, being a sailor, he had of course heard the stories of the Siren's Song. How the beautiful voice could bring a ship to its doom. He was always very careful to wear earplugs so that he would not be tempted.

He started his final voyage, just as so many others. He packed carefully, checking and re-checking his supplies. He was in a hurry though, as he wanted to be out to sea before the dawn broke. In his haste, he forgot his most important tool...earplugs.

Now he didn't notice this until he had gone quite a ways out to sea. He secretly thought all of the stories were just that-stories, so decided to continue the journey and prove them all wrong.

The first few days flew by so quickly and uneventfully that he forgot all about his missing earplugs. On the third night he turned in for bed and was quickly asleep. He awoke near midnight to the most hauntingly beautiful voice that he had ever heard. The more he listened, the more he wanted to hear.

He quickly got up and got dressed. He scanned the horizon on the full moonlit night, but could not see the owner of that remarkable voice.

He continued to head towards the sound, completly forgetting his charts and the dangers that the rocky coves hid.

Well, finally he caught a glimpse of long blonde hair and heard a playful laugh followed by a splash. This should have been a warning to him that the rocks were close by. All that he could think of was finding that magnificent voice though.

Even when his wooden boat hit the first rock, it was not enough to send him back to safety. He continued on and soon his wooden boat was smashed and he was on a sandy/rocky shore.

He crawled from his boat, battered and bruised and could still only think of that amazing voice!!

If you ever find yourself on a small cove, near a wooden boat you may want to retrace Capt. TownsEnd's steps. It is said that upon his crashing ashore the mermaid did indeed feel bad for him and looked for him. She wandered along the path that went uphill. She passed a mighty rock on her right. She went a little farther and saw another rock, not nearly as large and next to a 2 1/2 foot stump on the right. She saw a faint path between them and thought that must be the way that the poor captain went. She walked until she came to a stone wall and took 8 steps to her left. Alas, she could only travel so far from the water. When she had gone as far as she could, she left an image of herself tucked away low in the wall.

Please re-hide well. We hope you enjoyed our tale/tail.
