Snakes On An Island is at the Peebles Island State Park. Take 787 North to Cohoes and turn right onto Ontario St. (Route 470) and then a left onto Delaware Ave. You will pass the old Matton Shipyard. Peebles Island is at the end of Delaware Ave. There is a fee to enter during the summer before 5:00 PM.

Pull into the parking lot and look for the information kiosk. Take a left and walk down the path. Continue down the dirt trail. In a short while, you'll come to an intersection, but keep going straight. At the fork in the trail, go left towards the red trail marker. Enjoy the scenery. You'll be on this trail for a while. After a picnic table on your right, there'll be another fork. Keep straight follow the yellow trail. This trail brings you very close to the edge of the river and the falls. Keep walking straight with the river to your left. After you pass the dam to the west, you'll go down a small hill. Look for a gazebo and a picnic table on your right. From the Great Blue Heron information sign at the gazebo, find 110 degrees and walk approx. 40 paces to a log. Snakes On An Island is in the hollow middle of the log covered by debris.

To get back, keep on the same trail and stay to the left. And while you're here, why not do Turtle Run's Full Steam Ahead letterbox?
