Terrain: fairly flat, grass, sand & rocks of all sizes
Distance of walk: drive-by
Wheel chair friendly: probably not
Hitchhiker friendly: if small
This box is about the incredible, sweet fragrance that surrounds the park area. You can actually smell it as you drive closer to the park! I couldn’t determine the name of the flower (it’s a bush really). Jasmine came to mind but later I read that Jasmine isn’t a specific flower. I misplaced my wild flower guide. I’d be happy to hear from you if you can identify the flower. I may even have a prize for you!
The park has a playground for the kids and large, shaded picnic area. It’s also a catch-and-release fishing site. The river was swift when we were there but at one point in the river someone fashioned a small wading pool out of rocks.
Directions:
From Hood River drive south on Highway 35 for 17 miles to Toll Bridge County Park.
Clues:
Find the men’s room in the Day Use area. See the large rock? Go to it and walk at 285 to the small path. Find the two red-barked bushes. Look behind and under the rock next to the bush on the right.
