Hope you enjoy our first letterbox. It was our intent of this letterbox to show one of the real gems of Summit County even though this trail doesn't offer our favorite activity, hence the name. I guarentee you won't be disappointed by the view!!!

Directions:

1) Route 8 to Broad Street Exit
2) Head West on Broad past downtown Cuyahoga Falls, if it's a hot day, stop by the fountains on your right and have a little run thru
3) Keep heading on Broad past State Street. About 1/2 mile past State you'll come to a fork in the road. Go to the left, this should be 26th Street.
4) You'll eventually come to another fork in the road, this time you'll bear right and come to a stop sign. Turn right at the stop sign, this will be Sackett Avenue.
5) Go straight on Sackett until you come to a stop light. Take a left here onto Cuyahoga Street.
6) About 1/2 mile down the road, on the left hand side of the road, you'll see the entrance for the Oxbow Area Park. Turn into here and continue straignt on this road past the ball fields until you come to a parking lot and you see the entrance to the Oxbow Trail.
7) Get out of your car and begin to follow the Oxbow Trail. The trail will be marked so continue to follow it. You'll eventually come upon the Cuyahoga River on your right.
8) You'll come upon a clearing and picnic area to your left, continue straight past the picnic tables until you come upon a set of wooden stairs.
9) Climb up the stairs til you get to the top, the path will split, bear to the right and continue up the path until you get to the platform; this is where the path will join with the overlook trail.
10) Enjoy the view. On this day, we watched a family of turtles basking in the sun. When you are finished return to the gravel path and continue walking; be sure you do not go back the same way you came.
11) The Oxbow Trail will eventually break off again to your left. This is where the letterbox will reside. Count 20 paces on the Oxbow Trail where it will break off, there will be a map marking this. At 260 degrees you'll see a tree with a hollowed out center, this is where you'll find what you seek.

After signing in return to the trail, it will eventually head back to the parking lot.
