7/28/08 HAVE DECIDED TO MOVE THIS BOX TO ANOTHER LOCATION ENTIRELY. PLEASE DON'T GO LOOKING TILL YOU SEE NEW CLUES HERE!

Take exit 5W off the Everett Turnpike (Rte 3). Head towards Hollis, NH and Pepperell, MA on Route 111. After approx. 3.9 miles and 5 sets of lights you'll take a right on to Depot Road. Take an immediate right into a dirt parking lot. Carry your kayak (or canoe) to the bottom of the path and put in at the bottom of the rapids. (If you've printed the clues to the Runnells Bridge Letterbox you might as well stop and get that one too) Paddle down stream a short distance and you'll see an island. Paddle to the far end of the island, get out of your boat, and walk up the path for about 60 steps being very careful to avoid the poison ivy. You'll see a tree stump on your left. I'd look in it if I were you.

If these clues sound familiar, they are. I had originally placed my Happy Birthday Letterbox in the same place. Kayak NH was created for a gathering in Western NY and has just recently returned home. I thought the island was a good new home for it.

You can also get the Happy Birthday Letterbox on this trip if you continue down stream until you see the second brook entering the Nashua River on your left. You should still be in sight of the golf course. Land your craft and walk to the large oak with the scar on the bottom surrounded by a few young pine trees on the river bank. Starting at that tree walk up the path for 152 steps (give or take a few). Look into the woods on your right and you'll see another large tree doing the hippy, hippy, bump. Happy Birthday is under some bark and leaves on the back side of that tree.

Have fun. You might want to contact the placer to find an easier launch site for this search!
