Great for beginners.

Off Hwy 155 in St. Germaine there is a large Lost and Found. Once you have FOUND LAKE RD, go to the trail head where there are trail guides available and a bench to rest. You may park here or continue 4/10 of a mile on the sandy dirt road until you come to the lake.

Take a moment to enjoy the view of pristine waters where dragonflies and butterflies gather at the edge of the water.

Take the trail bearing 230 degrees.

Continue down the trail and around the bend and watch for blue and white ski signs on the right side of the trail.

The third ski sign is noticeably different than the first.

Shortly after passing the third sign you will come to a trail map. From the map take a bearing of 210. Proceed down the trail until you see another blue and white ski sign (on your right)like the first two and look for a large log on the ground to your left at a bearing of 130. Walk across it. You will find the letterbox in the hollow of a log covered with bark just under two logs resting on top of each other in the shape of an X.

PLEASE PLACE THE LETTERBOX BACK WHERE YOU FOUND IT AND COVER IT WELL.

We would love feedback on the letterbox as this is our first placement and we do not live in the area so are unable to check on it often. You may proceed along the trail as there are several paths to follow or for a shorter hike go back the way you came.

We found this place absolutley beautiful and hope you enjoyed finding it as well. This trail is also suitable for small children as you can park (close to the lake at the boat launch) and walk as much or as little as you'd like.

Other Info:
The trail is groomed by a local volunteer and is very scenic. The green trail is intermediate and the rest is novice. Also good for skiers.
