Dairy Creek is located on Walnut Street on the SE corner of Hillsboro, behind the WinCo on your way to Cornelius.
Wheelchair friendly? Sorry, no
Kid friendly? Depends on the kid
Difficulty: it's a short, easy hike, but the creek bed is going to be moderate
Equipment: compass or a sense of direction; GLOVES; good hiking shoes, insect repellent
(JULY 2010: I checked on this box, there is now a split-rail fence that you can go around to cross the creek bed.)
Follow the gravel path to the bark path leading into the woods. Follow the bark path in a South/SE direction, until you reach the Dairy Creek creekbed. You'll know it because you have to go through it! Down and up again, then under the railroad tressle. Follow the trail up and to the left, and just as you're heading downhill again, STOP. Look to your right. There's a skinny tree stump next to a large tree. The stump has a hollow side and there's a piece of concrete on top of the box.
