This small letterbox is called "Snake Eyes" because the stamps inside can be used as dice.

To find the box, you must go to the parking area on Route 3 between Sevey's Corners (where Route 56 dead ends to Rt. 3) and Cranberry Lake. It has a brown and yellow DEC sign that says it is the South Branch Grasse River and a special trout fishing area. There are several picnic tables here as well as garbage cans.

Once you pull into the area, you will see a dirt drive (it may now be paved)heading right down to the water. You'll want to go to see the view. As you approach the water, you'll notice a small herd path heading into the woods on your right (it seems to go back toward the road). Take a couple steps into the trees and you'll see a rock on the right that you can step on. At the time of placement, there was also a freshly cut stump there as well. Look for a tree, perhaps a yellow birch, with a small hole on its left side. On it's right side, among its long and gangly roots is the box. It is hidden beneath an odd cement rock.

Please be sure to seal this box well and replace with care.

If you want to play the dice game, here's how:
Each carved face represents a number. The cobra head is 1 and the rest are easy to tell. Roll the dice and record the total of your roll. Keep rolling and add up all your totals until you get Snake Eyes (two cobra heads) thus ending your turn. The highest total wins.
Contact me if you'd like to play the game against other letterboxers who have found the box and I will post the ongoing scores in the actual clue. Keep in mind that if you want to play, and you're pretty lucky with dice, it may take a while to roll Snake Eyes. But there are picnic tables nearby for a nice playing surface. So have fun!
