*******NOT LONGER AVAILABLE********
Level of Difficulty: Very Easy
Time: Only a couple of minutes
*** 8/27/06 Clues have changed a little due to newly cut trees.
Directions:
The Blue Heron was planted at the Round Lake Boat Launch on Route 9 in Round Lake, NY. We have enjoyed the lake on many occasions. It is a great place to canoe or kayak and I highly recommend the marshy area across the lake from the boat launch. We have seen many birds including the Blue Heron nesting as well as a couple of beavers building their homes.
Take I-87 North to Exit 11- Burnt Hills / Round Lake. Take a right onto Round Lake Road going towards Route 9. Follow it to the end and take a right onto Route 9. The boat launch is .2 miles on the left hand side.
Clues:
Stand in the left hand corner at the top of the parking lot where the pavement meets the gravel and face the lake. Walk 7 paces straight ahead. Turn left and walk 6 paces to a huge tree with vines growing up the side of it. Facing this tree, turn left towards the road and go 5 paces to a tiny tree connected to an approximately 3-foot tall stump. At the base of the tree under some wood is the Blue Heron.
Enjoy and please bury well afterwards. Thanks!
