This letterbox is located in Thompson County Park in West St. Paul. The park is located on Butler Ave. between Hwy 52 and South Robert.
Park in the lower lot and walk to the fishing pier. Standing in fron of the fish sign, go down the trail to the right and over the small bridge; continue around the lake until you reach a rectangular chain link enclosure with a Master lock. Veer right and continue on the trail to the stop sign. Now veer left on the paved trail and walk to the foot bridge. While standing on the metal expansion plate, turn around and, facing the way you came, walk 50 paces (for me a pace is each time my left foot hits the groung) and take the unpaved path into the woods.Veer left at the first "you are here" map and continue to the next "you are here" map.
At this point, turn right up the small hill. About two thirds of the way up, befor the the green and white hiker sign look left and see the large old tree, with dead branches at its base-Ryu's treasure is under the large branch (trunk?) on the left.
When you finish stamping and replace the box, contine up the trail past the hiker sign-you may be surprised where you come out.
Ryu is my grandson, and he sure loves his treasure-enjoy the additional item in the box!
