THIS LETTERBOX IS CLOSED FOR REPAIRS DUE TO RAIN DAMAGE, SORRY FOR ANY INCONVENIENCE.
This is our first letterbox. There is a prize for the first few people who find it (please take only one). It has been placed in the Sahuarita District Park just off Sahaurita Road. It is a very quick and easy walk. This is a nice quiet little park. It has a volleyball court, lighted basketball court, lighted playground, lighted baseball fields, soccer/multi-use fields, picnic areas, reservable ramadas, and of course, restrooms. It is a nice park to walk your dog. The Web site for this park is
http://www.pima.gov/nrpr/places/parkpgs/sahuarita/index.htm

Take, either,
I-19 South (From Tucson) to Helmet Peak Road. Turn Left (East) on Helmet Peak Rd (which turns into Sahuarita Rd), continue East to Sahuarita Park Road (East of Country Club),

or Take I-10 East from Tucson to Houghton Road, Right (South) on Houghton Rd to Sahuarita Rd, then Right (West) on Sahuarita Rd to Sahuarita Park Road. (It is East of Country Club)

Turn on Sahuarita Park Road (you can only turn North). This road will take you to Sahuarita park. Take the road around the left side of the park to the back (left side) of the park. Park by the rest rooms.

Walk on the sidewalk to between the playground equipment and the restrooms. Face the road you came into the parking lot on. See the 15 MPH speed limit sign. Walk toward the sign to between the 4th and 5th blue pole and cross the wire rope (just in front of the sign). Turn perpendicular to the wire rope and there is a fairly obvious break in the brush to walk through. walk about 20 steps and look at the patch of large Cholla slightly to the left and walk around the left side of these Cholla cactus until you are behind them. Face the dirt berm you can see between some fairly good size Mesquite trees. Walk toward the dirt berm until you are between the Mesquite trees. Now go to the middle of the three trees on your right. When you are in the shade of these three trees look under the tree on your Right and the box is under some rocks and brush next to the tree.

Be careful not to touch the cactus that looks like a stick that is growing in front of the tree. Please re-hide the box well under the rocks and plant debris so that it can not be seen from any direction. As always in the desert, be alert for snakes, scorpions and other critters.
