For Pride’s Sake
Letterbox

7/1/2010 - THIS LETTERBOX HAS BEEN PILFERED! EMPTY BOX DISCOVERED! WILL REPLACE CONTENTS SOON! CHECK BACK.
Pride is beautiful, graceful, liquid motion. Pride can be haughty, stand-offish, almost regal, but I love her still!
Now at 18 years old, Pride is the queen of the farm!
Nazreen’s Quest – better known as “Pride”- is my Arabian mare, my wonderful friend, and a happy adventurer.
In her honor, I have created a letterbox stamp. It has been placed on one of our favorite trails.
When you find our box; stop, feel the wind, listen to the leaves as they sway around you, hear the trees creak as they bend to let you pass. These are the things we have experienced, Pride and me. Know that Pride was here, floating, as only an Arabian princess can, creating a gentle stir of sweet smelling earth in her wake. She enjoyed the freedom and the delight of the wind in her mane, the brushing of the leaves, and all the sights and sounds on the trail as we galloped along, loving life.

This box is planted in Hibernia County Park, in Chester County, Pennsylvania.

This is a beautiful park that can be enjoyed all year long.

Clues

Enter Hibernia Park, from any direction and park between the mansion and the ranger’s station.
Hike up the Lake Trail that starts behind the mansion.
Follow this trail as it winds up towards the lake. It is a graveled, well-maintained walking path. (Horses and bikes are NOT allowed on this path). (Obviously, not the path Pride travels – but the easiest for 2-legged friends!)
Enjoy the bird watching/feeding area and the view of Chambers Lake on the way!
Keep to this path until it meets the camp road at the top of the hill.
Travel on the camp road in the same general direction as on the Lake Trail until you find a bridle path going off into the woods on the right, take it.
Meander down the trail, (watch out for horses and hounds!)
You will pass a large uprooted tree on your right, and then look for the tree that has been cut to yield way.
After this, look for a large spotted boulder on the left, off the path about 12 feet.
You will find Pride waiting behind it, under a SPORS (suspicious pile of rocks & sticks).
If you come to the T where 2 trails meet, you have gone too far. Go back and look carefully for the boulder. In the summer, the weeds may be high!
Please cover the letterbox well when you replace it.

You may continue on this bridle path in either direction, it makes a giant loop out to the main park road and back down to the parking lots.

ENJOY THE JOURNEY!
