Uphill from Omar's house is the Town of Ithaca's Eastern Heights park. Take the path counterclockwise down around the southern edge of the park. You'll pass a picnic table in the woods on the left. Lots of posted signs on your right down there along the low point! Continue uphill to a bench on your left and have a seat to catch your breath. (If you miss this bench, you'll cross a little boardwalk over a ditch about 30 paces uphill.) Look southeast for where there used to be a posted sign on a cherry tree six paces from the bench. Now there are only four fence staples sunk in the bark, two about six feet up the trunk's north side, two more about seven feet up, about a foot apart where the sign used to be when we first planted Omar's Box. Two paces past that tree, under a big flat rock in the old rock wall marking the park's boundary, we first planted Omar's Birthday Box. Somehow that letterbox went missing, even though it was anchored under a really big rock. When AceoHearts reported that no box could be found there, we went back and found it was indeed gone. So, we carved another stamp, made another logbook, and planted another Birthday Box for Omar nearby. The new one, planted November 6, 2008, is now seven paces to the ESE (at 120°) of the same pretty cherry tree. It's still in the same big rock wall, but under a smaller bunch of rocks a bit farther from the Town Park trail. We hope this one doesn't disappear, too! Take care to plant it exactly where you found it, as there are a heck of a lot of rocks in this wall, and we noticed they have moved quite a bit in the past couple years.
