~This box was placed on a rainy Mother's Day morning. I thought it was fitting to place it then. The rain symbolizes the tears of heartache and every mother's heart would ache at the loss of her child.

You will need to bring markers with you for this box and use absolute discretion so that the box will remain for other's to enjoy.

First, I will give you the history of this place and then you will need to do some research to figure out where it is.

This particualr site has a memorial stone to remember the 100's of souls that are buried here with no formal stones to mark their ever having been.
It is the commemoration of two of the most terrible fires in this town's history. One on March 12,1876 and the other in the 1950's.
These fires affected the town's poorest, least stable individuals. People who lived on the "poor farm" and people that were mentally unstable and had been put in the asylum. When the fire broke out the mentally unstable were locked in their rooms, with no way to get out...
When I first read about this in a newspaper I was horrified to think that so many people were buried in unmarked graves and that they had to die such a terrible death.
I had to go and see it for myself. After being there, I believed very strongly that these people should not be forgotten.
You will find the information for locating this place in a local newspaper. It had an article that ran March 12,2006.

Clues to the box:

Once you have found the correct place, it also has a plaque next to the road, right alongside the sidewalk, you can begin to look for the box.
Pull into the gravel lot and park facing the memorial stone. Take a few minutes to figure out where you need to go BEFORE getting out of your car. It will be a lot less suspicous.
Stand and read the stone and then turn left (easterly) and walk along the path until you cross the "track". Directly in front of you will be a cedar tree with a basket hanging from one of its branches and a stone slab leaning against it.
Go to this tree and look on the backside, UNDER a rock, for the letterbox. You may want to act like you are tying your shoe, looking at the slab etc. to be less noticeable. You can either take this box to the nearby bench to stamp in or back to your car.
When you return it, it would be helpful to act as though you are doing "laps".

This area is WIDE OPEN and very busy at times. Please only retrieve this box when you are certain no one is looking. I hope this angel will be a renminder to all who seek her of this terrible tragedy, so that these people will not be forgotten.
