Although I carved this stamp in March or early April, I was holding on to it until I made some more for this popular historic cemetery. Since there is now a box near my target site posted yesterday, I've planted it for those looking for the others now located here.
You will need to locate the grave of Eddie Rickenbacker, a WWI flying ace and an early auto racing pioneer. Not only did he become a hero of WWI, he was famous with the Indianapolis 500 raceway. After his death, Lockbourne airbase was renamed in his honor before the airport was turned over to the air guard.
Eddie's grave can be seen from Brown road, follow the directions from Dr. Watson's box series 'A rest in peace'. Note that the gate onto Brown closes at certain times and it was closed when I first scouted the place before the leaves were on. Pick up a map from the main office when they are open and follow the tour routes.
This cemetery is the final resting spot for many pioneers and personages of the Columbus area. Be aware of the many binocular equipped bird watchers in the area.
Clues:
After your respects to Eddie, count 7 paces at 120 degrees to a forked tree, through the fork, spy the pine tree located at 140 degrees 26 paces hence.
Ace of Aces box is located under the pine behind some rocks and pine needles.
Re-hide the box as found or better being aware of the birders in the area or animals and ground keepers who may discover a poorly hidden box. The weight of rocks acts as a plug and keeps squirrels from shoving the box out.
