*** Confirmed missing Aug 2007. Will not be replaced. ***

A HAND-CARVED microbox that is a DRIVE-BY, unless you’re a train or carousel buff!

BACKGROUND
In the mid-1900s, Anne and Fowler McCormick (grandson of John D. Rockefeller) raised Arabian horses and Black Angus cattle on about 7 square miles of land in what is now central Scottsdale. Their son, Guy Stillman, was a great lover of trains and built a 5/12 scale model on his adjacent property that he called the Paradise and Pacific Railroad. As part of the family’s legacy, they donated 100 acres of land for city parks and the McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park sits on 30 of them. Park admission is free, but rides on the Paradise and Pacific and/or the carousel cost just $1. There are several restored full-size train cars, as well as museums, shops, gardens and picnic ramadas. To learn more about the park’s history, attractions, and hours of operation, please visit the website at www.therailroadpark.com

TO THE BOX
McCormick - Stillman Railroad Park is located at the southeast corner of Scottsdale and Indian Bend Roads, just 1.7 miles west of the 101 Loop.

Find the Old Peoria Train Depot. From the locomotive bell near the front door, look toward 144* from north. The box is in the 4th shrub to the left of the RR X-ing, velcroed to a branch - right in the middle, about 2 feet above the ground.

Early in the morning or late at night, the park is deserted. If you come when the attractions are open, however, you may have to rest in the grass near the shrub for a while in order to discretely retrieve it!
