Missing since being mentioned in a newspaper article..... Check back in the spring

The Plotter Kill Preserve is a 632 acre parcel of some of the most beautiful views, waterfalls and plants in the area. There are about four miles of trails and three waterfalls within the preserve. Most of the trails are well marked, but there are areas where the marking gets confusing or the trail is hidden by the plant growth in the mid-summer. Please, Please, Please – if you are going to hike many of the beautiful trails, print out a trail map from this site: http://www.crisny.org/government/capreg/schdyco/Planning/plotterkill.jpg

This box is hidden along one of the trails that access the main loop.

Please bring a pen/pencil and a flashlight.

Directions to the preserve:
Take I-890 to the Campbell Road. Make a right onto Campbell Road, then a right onto Putnam Road. Follow Putnam until you come to Rte. 159. Make a right onto Rte 159 and go about 1.8 miles. Turn right onto Coplon Road. Follow Coplon Road to the small parking area on the left.

Follow the trail on the left of the preserve sign to begin your journey to the hiding spot of the elf. This section of the trail gets very muddy and slippery after the rains. Follow the twists and turns of the trail until you begin to see the clearing for the power lines. Then look for the tree along the trail with the large hole. Search this tree to find where the elf hides. Please re-hide well as this is a well traveled path.
