Clark Reservation State Park

- Pick up a map either at the Ticket Booth or the Park Information board near the parking lot . . . much advised unless you know the park well.

- Begin on the trail at the Park Information board and Restrooms/Comfort Station. Go straight,
and turn left when you get to the Cliff Trail (blue blaze).
- Stay on the Cliff Trail and enjoy the view until you reach Long Trail (red blaze), go left.
- Before too long you will see Pulpit Rock Trail (yellow blaze) branching off to the right, take it.
- Think of this trail as if it were outlining a peninsula, it has that shape. So as you walk, once
you've gone around the end of the peninsula, then I want you to start looking for clues.
- On the Left are large twin trees, and again another set of large twin trees - but look up and
you see one is really a very tall stump.
- After the tall stump start counting the yellow dots on trees on the Right only (silently). Stop at
the second.
- This tree is quite large. As you stand next to it, turn and face the way you came.
- Take two steps that equal about 5-6 feet, stop.
- Look to your right, one quarter turn, to see a thin deciduous tree some 12' off the path.
- Check to be sure no hikers are in sight, if all is clear, then go to this tree and tucked behind in
a little nest you will find something under some debris and a rock. After stamping in please do
take care to re-hide carefully.
- You can return by retracing, or, become a billy-goat further up the trail.
- If you continue on, after the billy-goat part, the trail ends at Long Trail, turn right.
-This will soon come to an intersection of "Long Trail" to the left and "Long Trail Extension" to
the right. Take the left.
- Long Trail will end at Mildred Faust Trail, go left and continue "straight" back to the parking
lot.
