Cox Covered Bridge.

Handicap accessible with a helper.

Dedicated to my ancestral cousins, those that had the 'Pioneer Spirit' when they settled and prospered in what became Vinton County, Ohio. For Henry Steel(e), the son of my great, great, grandfather James William Steele.

Built in 1884 by Jacob Diltz and Henry Steel, this bridge served many generations of Vinton County residents until it was taken out of service moved a few feet up stream to it’s current location. Henry owned land in nearby Creola that had served as an over-night camp site for the men of Morgan’s raiders when they made their run though Vinton County during the civil war.

Cox covered bridge is located on County road 20, Woodgeard Rd. between SR 56 and Creola several yards west of Route 93.

Park in the little pull off and counting 8 paces across the center of the bridge, walk an additional 2 paces through the two metal upright posts at the end. This box is located 11 paces at 350 degrees across a ditch behind a under a rock and limbs resting where two dead logs meet to form a ‘T’.

Please re-hide as found or better. It’s hopefully placed away from the prying eyes of bored, playing kids.
