This is the first in a series celebrating the Great Northwoods of Wisconsin. :)
Walk down Spring Lake Road east from town. Enjoy the scent of the pines, the call of blackbirds, phoebes, robins and other birds, and probably the whine of a mosquito. You might see a deer, or even a beaver or muskrat on the lake when you pass.
Where the road curves left and the first driveway goes straight, turn right into the woods onto the wide path.
165 steps from the road you should find a clearing.
70 steps across the clearing to the other side.
18 steps from there, on the left side of the path, is a red oak with a significant stump right next to it on the north side.
From that tree take a reading of 100° and find the 15' tall dead birch stump. Right next to that stump is another low stump. You'll find the box under chunks of wood between the birch stump and the low stump. Please rehide carefully and completely.
