This letterbox is hidden on the Frances Lloyd Shetley Bikeway, which begins at the corner of Shelton and Elm streets in Carrboro.

To get there, park at Elementary School on Shelton Street. Walk down Shelton Street to Elm Street. The bikeway starts to your left.

Walk down the bikeway away from Elm. You will pass a butterfly garden and a paved path that goes up to the school-- both on your left.

After the 5th lamppost, you'll see an unpaved trail on the left. Follow this trail until you come to a cross-trail. On the left you will see 2 wooden footbridges. On the right you will see a wooden structure. Turn right and walk toward the wooden structure (it's an amphitheater).

Enter the clearing and find a double-trunk tree on the left side (the school side) of the amphitheater.

From the trunk of this tree take about 25 steps straight ahead through the undergrowth, keeping the school on your left and the amphitheater on your right.

You will find the letterbox in a tree stump under pieces of bark.

Please be discreet when stamping in and cover the letterbox carefully inside the stump when you are done!

Hike length: 0.5 miles
