2008 UPDATE: It's been reported that these trails have become quite overgrown with shrubbery and poison ivy. Make sure to take proper precautions if you decide to hike along them.

2006 FLOOD UPDATE: As of 7/8/06, No Time (box 1) is missing, presumably caught up in the flood of late June. All other boxes are active. For boxes 4 and 5, that's quite a feat.

Xak Promar is a role-playing game developed by a friend of mine when we were in college together. Based loosely on Dungeons & Dragons, this game became very important to a group of us, and our friendships grew stronger and deeper through it. The images on the stamps reflect items from the game. My friend now lives in Easton, so I thought it would be appropriate to plant these boxes within a few miles of his house.

The boxes are planted in weivreviR kraP (just reverse it), located in Palmer Township near Easton. The park is near the intersection of South 25th St. and Lehigh Dr., right at the Lehigh River (about 1.5 miles south of Route 22). Park in the main lot. I estimate you’ll need 60-90 minutes.

XAK PROMAR I: NO TIME
This box is currently missing.
Park in the main lot, and head toward the fishing pier. (Hint: it’s on the river.) From the fishing pier sign, take the paved trail heading southwest, past the ballfield. The trail will start heading downhill. When it levels off and turns right, spot a small, faint path on the left backtracking along the river. Walk along this sandy path about 28 paces, and you’ll see a narrow pipe sticking out of a rock on the left, like a periscope. Look beneath it, under some sticks.

XAK PROMAR II: INFINITI SWORD
Go back to the paved trail and continue the way you were going. When you reach the dam, go right through the tunnel. Go up the hill. When the trail turns SHARPLY to the left, stop. Sight 320* to a large tree leaning at a 45* angle. Look under the tree, under a SPOR.

XAK PROMAR III: NULL SWORD
Continue to follow the trail uphill. Soon you’ll come to a guardrail on the left, and a big rock pile on the right. Thirty paces past that, stop. Look to the right. There’s some large rocks embedded in the hill. Look under the left rock, way on the left side, behind some small rocks.

XAK PROMAR IV: YZ SWORD
Go back, under the tunnel again. Turn right, and walk past the dam. (You might want to divert little ones’ eyes from the graffiti on the right.) Continue on the dirt path, with the river on your left. You’ll soon pass a small rock wall on the right. Eventually, cross over what seems to be a dry stream bed. Ten paces past that, sight 150* for a large downed tree leaning over the river. Look in the tree’s base, wedged under some wood.

XAK PROMAR V: THREE-SIDED CHESSBOARD
Continue on the path. It will go downhill a bit. You will eventually see a large cement box embedded in the hill on the right. 19 paces past the box, there is a three-trunk tree on the right. Look under the SPOR in the back of the tree.
Note: These chessboards really do exist! A friend of mine hand-carved two of them. It’s a remarkably fun variation of chess, played among three people.

Backtrack to return to your car.

Please make sure you rehide all the boxes well! Contact me at notime@fast.net with concerns.
