This letterbox was carved and planted for the Letterbox Gathering in Rusk. It's meant as a friendly jab and a special tribute to our closest neighbor and Red River Rival. Oklahoma and Texas have much more in common than we either one like to admit!
They are doing maintenance to the signs so you may have to watch a bit. Last we heard the "honeysuckle" sign was down but the post was still there.

Clues:

Take the US 69 exit from I-20 South through Tyler and Jacksonville to Rusk. Take US 84 West toward Palestine. the Texas State Railroad State Park will be on your left. As you enter the park you will see a small parking lot on the left side of the road. You can park here and walk up to the nature trail. Starting at the sign that reads "Sweet Gum", walk the trail enjoying the different kinds of trees and plants. BEWARE, we saw lots of poison ivy! At "honeysuckle" take the path less travelled to the left. Sit on the huge fallen log bench with your back to the trail. At approximately 10 degrees you'll see a huge standing pine with a large dead pine branch fallen against its north side. Among the branches and pinecones, the box is hanging about 4 1/2 feet high next to the north side of the trunk.

Happy Questing!
