This box was reported in bad condition 8/10/2006, but stamp intact.

The Miami were original inhabitants of modern-day Indiana, Illinois and Ohio, but many of them were forced to move to Oklahoma during the Indian Removals. Like most American Indian tribes in the US, the Miami tribe in Oklahoma lives on a reservation which belongs to them and is under their control. Their name comes from their native word "Myaamia" which means "allies"...not from the city in Florida, which is actually a Seminole word.

Clues:

Take Exit 289 from the Will Rogers Turnpike (I-44) and go east to the town of Bernice. Bernice is the home of the "Darryl Starbird Rod and Custom Car Museum" and also Bernice State Park. The park has had a lot of improvements during the last year or so and is a really nice place to spend some time! Cross the bridge and immediately on your right will be the park entrance. Drive to the Nature Center and park.
Take a walk on the nature trail. At the "wildflowers" sign, go right for a round trip view of the lake, or go left to continue down the path.
You'll pass "butterflies", an observation deck on your right, and then a second one on your left. From the top of the second deck look North and spot a tall "stepladder". Go down, and leaving the paved path follow the mowed path left from the stepladder past the yellow birdhouse...(unless the box has been removed or repainted by the Boy Scouts). With your back to the birdhouse, you'll see a path going north. Take it approximately 30 paces and you'll see a large honeysuckle covered tree on your left with a smaller tree behind it. The box is on the back side of the second tree.
Happy Questing!
