Directions to the Pottle Tree Farm: The tree farm is located at 507 Southmeadow Road in Perry, Maine. From Route 1 North take the left hand turn just before the Perry Farmers Union store. This is Southmeadow Road. The tree farm is 2 1/2 miles from this turn. Where the road splits take the left turn, Southmeadow Road. Look for the tree farm signs on your right. Park anywhere where you are not blocking the driveway to the house or barn.

Clues: 1.. Start at the medicine wheel located just to the right of the house. 2..Take the trail, the continuation of the driveway, that leads past the barn into the woods. NOTE: While you're looking for the letterbox please take the time to read the many signs that you will pass that describe the features of the tree farm and their importance on the environment. 3..Follow this trail over the small wooden bridge that crosses Boyden Stream. NOTE: Notice the large beaver lodge in the stream to your right. 4..Continue straight up to the top of the hayfield. 5..At the second telephone pole from the wooden bridge look for a trail to your right. NOTE: Take the time to soak in the view of the open hayfields and the old apple trees. 6..Take the right hand trail until you reach the Jim Pottle trail which will be on the left marked with a sign and BLUE flagging tape. 7..Take this trail until you come to a bench that surrounds a tree. Sit and rest on the bench and enjoy the peace and tranquility of the woods. Stay on the trail marked by the blue flagging. 8..The trail turns sharp left at the 3 cedars. 9..Notice the beautiful white pine on your right. 10..Shortly you'll come to a stand of tall pine trees with a bench. 11..The letterbox is located behind the tall pine directly across from the bench. 12..The trail takes a sharp right just beyond the pines. 13..Go straight at the 4 way intersection. 14..Take the right hand trail at the next junction. 15..The trail shortly takes a sharp left. 16..Take the left at the next junction. 17..Continue following the blue flagging tape back to the hayfield.
