Thursday August 31, 1911 – 10:20PM

...You’re riding the Black Diamond Express out of the New York Pennsylvania Station headed West to the “Kodak City”. You have an appointment with Mr. Eastman tomorrow to show him your new invention – an aerial camera. But your nerves are compounded by the fact that just last week this very train derailed – taking 29 lives. Your expected 9:00PM arrival is delayed due to reduced track speeds. Your next stop is the “junction” that will take you north to your destination. You watch anxiously out the window. The moon is only half, but the night is clear. The Conductor calls, “Rochester Junction – 3 miles…”. You glance to the south side of the train and see a green marker at side of the tracks, a nearby solitary tree, a large flat red rock. You turn your head to the North side of the tracks. You catch the reflection of the moon off a low brassy object You make a mental note of the location - a good place to explore over the weekend… The door clatters as the Conductor exits your car calling you back to reality. You getup to gather your things…

Hint: “3 miles”=”mile marker 9”, sit, look, red rock.

Directions: Park at the intersection of Chamberlain Road and the Lehigh Valley Trail (find a map at http://www.monroecounty.gov/documentView.asp?docID=3160 ). Walk West towards Quaker Meeting House Road for approximately 1.5 miles. Watch the left side of the trail for mile markers. When you find mile marker 9 continue West approximately 10 feet to the bench (with a low brass plaque honoring a Boy Scout). Sit on the bench facing South. Look across the trail to a nearby solitary tree. To the West of the tree see a large red rock. Find this letterbox under the rock. Please re-hide well.
