The Sappony Nation Series has 5 boxes planted at Mayo Park.
"The Sappony Nation" letterbox is box #1
"The Arrowheads" is letterbox #2
"The Seven Feathers" is letterbox #3
"The Flue-cured tobacco" is letterbox #4
"The Ear of Corn" is letterbox #5
We are blessed to have the Sappony tribe living here in Person County with us, this series is dedicated to them. They live very close to this park.
From Roxboro take HWY NC-49 North / Virgilina Road, go about 10 miles and turn Left onto Neal's Store Road (this left turn will be right beside of Country Convenience Store and there is also a brown sign that says Mayo Park).
The Mayo Park's main entrance is on the Left. Park in the visitor's parking lot close to the Ranger Station and get one of their trail maps. Take the Sappony Spring Trail. Walk to the end of it (it's only 1/10th of a mile long). When you get to the end of the trail you will see a fire ring with "chairs", notice the small branch of water. Do you see the rocked spring? Read the sign about the spring. Now look directly behind sign, what you seek is under the backside of the fallen log. Please re-hid well. Please let me know you found my box.
