Indian Creek Canyon provided prime habitat for the Anisazi culture which thrived there over 1000 years ago. It also served as a main travel corridor from the mountains in the East, and the Canyonlands to the West. Many ancient and more modern people stopped to carve symbols on the walls.

Directions: First, find the 'Newspaper Rock' letterbox. Follow the directions given by Kat to get there. After you have enjoyed this fantastic spot, keep driving down the road until you see the mile marker 5. After you pass this mile marker, park in the first pullout on the left that you see. (It will be a little ways past the marker.)

Clues: Follow a trail down and cross Indian Creek. Walk west up the dry wash. After about 100 feet, look for an open sandy spot on the right. A trial starts here. Look at the faces of the rock wall to the west. Head that direction. (The trail will parallel the wash.) Find the petroglyph panel. Keep walking around the wall to the left. At the end of the panel, look for the break in the rock wall. About 10 feet up, there's a little juniper tree, and also a pinyon pine. Climb up to the level with the trees. Follow the curved root of the juniper back to the rock wall. The box is hidden under a small boulder. Enjoy!
