Status of Mini-box: Alive and Well on 7/14/2008
The "Flumexed" microbox is located in the Lake Tahoe Basin park, at the Zephyr Cove Resort. This small lakeside park has picnic facilities, beaches, and trails. During the day (and summer I'm sure) there will be a fee if you drive in.
Directions:
From Hwy 50 and South Lake Tahoe,CA, go east past casinos and stay on Hwy until you reach Zephyr Cove. Look for light that has sign on left for "Zephyr Cove Resort". Turn left and go to toll booth. Once in, turn right at T-junction. Go to the end of the road and park on left just before Turnaround.
To the Microbox:
Walk to small building near the turnaround. Now walk toward the lake, to the last picnic table on the right. You should see a trail going north. Take this trail to the "Lake Tahoe Basin" sign, then past the "Trail" sign, along the shore. You will reach a bench on the left, looking over the small rock island. Stop. Turn left and go away from the bench, into the trees, for 23 steps (at 70 degrees). You should be near a smaller pine tree (which is behind one of the large pines). Mciro is hanging by a clip on the back side of the tree trunch, about 7 feet up. Just bend the clip open to remove, but be sure to bend back when you replace.
