Newby Park is located on Doe Lane in Newtown Square. You can access this park by taking West Chester Pike to Northwood Road. Follow Northwood Road bearing right at the bottom of the hill where the circle begins and continue until you come to Deer Lane. Make a right onto Deer Lane. Make a quick left onto Doe Land and at the end of the street, you will find the entrance to the park.
A long time ago there lived two Princess sisters who loved to play in the woods just outside of the Kingdom of Newby. It is rumored that the two Princesses hid their diary somewhere in these woods. Once you arrive at the Kingdom of Newby’s main gates cross over the moat and follow the trail. Be careful as you might see an alligator and dragon that used to wander the grounds on your right as you continue on the trail. The King had his magical wizard turn them to stone as they used to scare the Princesses quite frequently. You can stop and look at the dragon and even climb on his back as he is now harmless. The alligator is also now harmless, and you can do the same to it. Continue on the trail and pass through the middle of what used to be the Kingdom’s old Jousting court. In the days of old the knights on horse used to compete with each other on the field in jousting matches and wager on who would be victorious. This jousting court has since been paved over, and only two lances remain buried upright on the ends of the court. After passing through the middle of the old jousting court, rest on one of the benches that the King himself would use to watch over the jousting matches. As you are resting, look to your left and you will see another narrow trail. Follow the trail until you come to a large clearing and should see a bench. Have a rest at the bench and look for the old abandoned steam locomotive. Head towards it and go inside the engineer’s room and face 330 degrees and look for a tree that once was. Walk over to that spot and now look for the conjoined twisted triplets. It is rumored that the three of the King’s servants were plotting to overtake the Kingdom, and the King had his magical wizard transform them into this form for all of eternity. Walk over to the triplets. From this spot, walk approx 290 degrees and an “unlucky” number of small steps. You should see a narrow tunnel of darkness that is rumored to hold the prize you are seeking.
