At the Caroline-Tuthill Preserve on Martha's Vineyard a 1.3 mile loop trail winds through oak and pine woods, past wetlands and salt marsh. Come to see the forest carpeted with Lady Slipper orchids in early June.
NOTE: This box is presumed lost at sea. Missing 6/12
To the trailhead: Coming from Edgartown there is a small parking turnout on the North (right) side of the Edgartown-Vineyard Haven Road .5 mile past the triangle intersection leading into Edgartown. There is a kiosk with trail maps at the entrance to the preserve.
To the letterbox: At the fork go to port. Eventually, a sandbar will traverse your course. Once you cross the bar count 25 yards to a forked mast. To starboard you will find the letterbox anchored in a safe harbor beneath uprooted timber. Stamp Ahoy!
