Directions: Travelling from eastern Idaho, take Twinfalls exit 173. Travel south into Twinfalls. go on blue lakes blvd. to addison ave., first 5 points intersection. Turn right on addison. This turns to highway 30. take all the way in to Buhl. you will pass through Filer first.
Travelling from western Idaho, take exit 141. Follow signs to Hagerman/Buhl.You will go through Hagerman first.
Once in Buhl-at stoplight at east end of town, turn onto Burley avenue headed west. Travel for 0.9 miles. Follow signs to Castleford/Balancedrock. Turn left(south) on this road. Travel for 13.5 miles to Balanced rock. Stay on main road following curves in road and signs.
Balanced rock park is 1 mile before the rock. After finding Balanced rock travel back to the park for a picnic or to see the different rock formations. Also accross the road from the park is natural hot springs water coming out of the hillsides.
Clue: At Balancedrock, pull off the road to the right. There is a picnic table and canopy there. From the parking lot looking at the rock, take the left hand trail and walk uphill for 68 steps/34 paces. Turn right and walk for 16 steps/8 paces. You will be facing a big black boulder. Below the boulder is a flat rock. Under the ledge is what you travelled for. Please re-hide well and watch for snakes. This IS snake country. E-mail me if letterbox is in need of repair. You are most welcome to repair anything if you are able to.
hope you enjoy this letterbox. dragonrider
