DIRECTIONS
This letterbox begins just off the north side of the Cornell University campus. Locate Triphammer Rd. If starting from campus, Iroquois Rd. will be a left turn just a few blocks off campus. If travelling south on Triphammer (from Pyramid Mall/ community corners), Iroquois will be on the right just after Iroqois Place and just before you get to campus. Turn onto Iroqois Rd. and park. (No parking 7am-11am Monday thru Friday)

TERRAIN & TIME
Terrain is easy/moderate. There is a small hill to climb. Not good for strollers. Allow at least half an hour.
Warning: This box will not be easy to find when there is several inches or more of snow cover.

CLUES
Walk (carefully) across Triphammer Rd.
Straight across from Iroquois Rd. there is a trail.
Head up the trail as it goes up and bears to the right
(Ignore the white blaze trail off the to left)

At the crossroads, don't go left, don't go right, just go straight up to the crest of the hill.
Follow the trail as it dips and continues through a stand of big ol' (mostly oak) trees.

Just before you emerge from the wood into daylight (hopefully you're doing this in the daylight), bear right past the 5" diameter snake vine and continue into the field.

At the edge of the field, look all the way across the field and fix your eyes on the little piece of horizon that is not obscured by any trees. Walk toward that horizon 250 paces. (Yes, yes, we know--paces will vary. But this is like horseshoes: close counts.)

Right Face. In the patch of trees and shrubs in front of you are two large conifers. In between them is evidence of something big and very old. You are getting very warm. The thing you are looking for is situated in a very special place . . . a place where Ezra Cornell could not have set his foot 100 years ago.
