11/29/2003 original plant by Don, Gwen, Pam & Carson, but it went missing within a month.
12/10/2005 This was replanted by Panama and the same image on the stamp was recarved by Don.

4/14/2008 Do you know what Poison Oak looks like?
We received a note advising that there is plenty in the area.LONG PANTS ARE REQUIRED!

1/29/2009 We were advised that the logbook is full. If you are heading to this one can you take a replacement?

From 101 take Hwy 154 toward Lake Cachuma via San Marcos Pass rd. Turn right on Painted Cave Rd. approximately 4 miles past Foothill Rd.. The cave is on your left approximately 2 miles from San Marcos Pass Rd. There is parking for two vehicles at the cave but there is room for a couple of others nearby. The last two miles to the cave is very narrow and winding. Bring a good flashlight with you as there is no lighting in the cave which is sealed with a metal gate. These are some of the most vibrant Indian paintings and are probably less than 1000 years old. One figure may represent a solar eclipse that occurred on November 24,1677. No, Gwen & I weren’t there when that occurred, we came a few days later.
Across the road from the Cave entrance, there are 2 wooden fence posts. Down the hill there is one more wooden post. Next to the post you will find 2 rocks leaning against each other and between them is a crevasse. Look for the letterbox hidden behind a rock in this crevasse.

When researching our clues please be aware that when previous searchers list “ATTEMPTED” on the clue sheets it may reflect more on their abilities as finders than indicate whether the box is viable or not. We do monitor our clues and boxes pretty well and appreciate the notes written to us by those that find or attempt our letterboxes.

Please contact placer directly or through the official LBNA chat list regarding status rather than through unofficial databases. Up to date status can only be ascertained from the placer.

Panama, Thanks for your help.
