This used to be a series of three, then two, and now only one. The boxes were placed to give students in our school a chance to use the stamps they created at school. Bush Pasture Park is only three blocks from school, so it was a great place to hide the boxes. Please visit the remaining box to see the stamps the students made!

Box #1

Battle between the North and South

Every year the seventh and eighth grade students from Howard Street Charter School reenact the battle of Gettysburg in Bush Park. This letterbox is in remembrance of the valiant fight the South (seventh grade) puts up every year knowing they will not win until they are the North in eighth grade.

From the parking area on Lefelle and Cottage, find the blacktop path that heads north and is closest to Winter Street. Follow the path north, away from Lefelle. On the path look for a light pole that was installed by PGE, the pole you are looking for is number 12679.
Place your back to the pole and walk fourteen paces into the trees, be sure to step over the small shrubs at the edge of the path.

Once in the trees, look for a tree that has heart. From this tree walk seven paces away from the tree until you come to a bark trail. On the trail, turn right. When you come to a sprinkler in the trail, turn toward your right. Find the tree with a white spot on its trunk and ivy in its branches. Near that tree is a rhododendron that has a branch shaped like a J. Beneath the branch is the box. Please be sure to hide it carefully.
