This series of letterboxes will tell you a story of a man called Gingerbread Jim. He was born February 2, 1941, growing up in a small town called Gingerbread Junction located somewhere in the states. The stories he will tell, will take you to the favorite places he always enjoyed visiting, introduce you to fasinating people he met, and make you laugh through the situations he had gone through, growing up through the years. So I hope you enjoy the series and cherish the stories that are told as only Gingerbread Jim could.

The Adventures of Gingerbread Jim - #4
-Up, Up, and Away-

The Year - 1965
Age - 21
Location - A Park in Concord (Mystery)

Now, for starters, I probably should have gotten the name of the park, but honestly, my friend and I were out to have some fun. So much fun that if we were to get caught, we would get in trouble. What I can tell you is, the park had a pool, playground, basketball court, tennis court, and 2 ball fields. Thats all I know. Well, we pulled into the parking lot and got out of the car. We were very cautious when we got there, so that no one was around. See, we were planning on setting off a rocket, and Concord had a ban on rocket lift-off. It was the middle of the Cold War. Anyway, we walked between the pool and the tennis court and then left to the ball field. At home plate we set up the rocket on the launch pad. At this point, I began to think it was a bad idea. We backed up a few feet and just as I was about to back out of the rocket launch, Off the rocket went. It was the loudest thing I had ever heard and I'm sure we weren't the only ones who heard it either. That rocket went up and headed towards the left field foul pole. Oh man, we bolted into the woods to the left of the field. There we decided to look for the rocket so that we not get caught. So, We happened to be on a trail and it went in the same direction as the rocket. This trail had some of the most twisted trees I had ever seen. So we followed the trail all the way to the road. At the road, we headed left to a trail on the other side where the no parking sign is before the bridge. A bit down this trail, we came to a bench at marker 17. We sat there thinking about how much trouble we were going to get into if we didn't find the rocket. 10 minutes later we carried on further down the trail. Walking along the swamp we finally came to a spot of promise. We found a hole on the left side on the trail. It was kinda in the trail, but it was still on the left. It looked like the rocket landed there. But it wasn't there. Just up ahead we saw some smoke. We walked up to marker 15 and about 7 or 8 feet further on the left, we found where the smoke was coming from. Just behind a tree that looked like the tree at marker 15, we found the rocket. We were so reliefed to find the rocket. Well atleast til we got back to the car. The police were waiting for us. Lesson learned, was not to launch rockets during the Cold War.

Please remember to replace the letterbox exactly as you found it. Be as careful as possible doing what you need to do, for this trail is walked by many. Please email me and let me know how things went and tell me your story about searching for the rocket.

P.S. There are 5 parks with pools, 4 of those have ball fields, 3 of those with tennis courts, 2 of those have trails, but only 1 have the "Up, Up, and Away" letterbox.
