The letterbox is hidden in Old Santee Canal State Park. Admission to the park is only $3 per person. Attractions at the park include a 19th century plantation house, four miles of nature trails, and an interactive visitor center. This is also an excellent spot to look for wildlife.

Clues:

When you enter, park in the parking lot to the right.

Walk on the path towards the gift shop. Take the path on the right, which passes the gift shop / interactive center.

Follow the path past the white stony landing house.

Follow the signs toward the observation points.

When the path comes to a "T", don't stop for a picnic. Instead go the other way.

The paved path becomes a wooden walkway.

Continue over the water, and keep your eyes peeled for alligators and other wildlife.

At first fork, veer right past the first observation point.

Stay right on the path heading towards the next observation point.

When wood turns to gravel for thirteen paces and back to wood, you know that you are getting close.

Once again lies ahead a fork in the road. Seven paces before the road forks, you will find what you seek. Look to your right under the roots of a leaning tree.
