About 1.5 miles Souteast of Kaaterskill Falls and 2 miles South of North Point LetterBoxes.

LOCATION: NORTHEAST CATSKILLS
TRAIL MAP: 40 & 41 (detail insert) Catskill Mountain Maps

The scenic way is to park at Schutt Road and hike through the park 9day fee when open) around the lakes to the Catskill Mountain House Site. Great view of the Hudson valley from here. Then hike up South Mountain about .8 mile to Boulder Rock. This is about 6 miles round trip.

The other way would be to follow the Blue and Red trails up South Mountain for about 2 miles to Boulder Rock.

This is one of the few places in the Northern Catskills where you can see the Shawangunk Mountains.

Clues:

"ON THE TOP WHERE NO ONE SHOULD GO IS 1912 ETCHED IN STONE,
IF YOU PUSH THE LB TOO MUCH IT WILL FALL AND BE OUT OF TOUCH,
THE SOUTH SUN GROWS A SHADOW ON THE CHANNEL TO MARK THE SPOT
FROM BOULDER ROCK"

This placed the box under the rock but now it's

50 steps to the East, Turn North by the crack in the ledge
and walk 40 feet to the North. The letterbox is buried by the base of a 3 foot stump next to a 7 foot log with a flat stone (covered by leaves) that cover the box!
