From Route 30 take the Columbia exit and travel north on Route 441 until you come to the Chickies Rock Overlook. There are three access parking areas. All offer beautiful walks, but if you are looking for the letterbox take the second parking area (about 1/2 way down the hill). Take the Overlook Trail to the beautiful vistas of the Susquehanna River. This is a place filled with hikers, climbers, fossil hunters, students and the like. Chickies Rock offers one of the most famous anticlines exposed in the northeastern United States. An anticline is a geologic formation of strata that are folded like an arch or a dome. A trace fossil, Scolithus was discovered here and a sample sent to Charles Darwin for identifcation many years ago. You will find two overlooks very near one another with stone pillars. Go to the one that has the same number of pillars as the number that represents the month in which we remember our veterans. Turn away from the view and walk back the path until you are at the point at which the trail separates for the two overlook options. Face 69 degrees and count steps. The number of steps required is the number of stone pillars at the southern overlook times 3. At this point you will see a 3 pronged tree to the North. Count off the same number of steps again and you will see a large letter "Y" 30 yards into the woods to the north. Continue at 100 degrees and count again the same number of steps and then add one for each stone pillar at the southern overlook. To the South you will find your quarry inside the base of a hollow tree maybe 15 steps from the trail.

**This park is heavily used so use great discretion when stamping and replacing. Thank you! This is a short hike - 10 minutes one way with little elevation change.
**Please bring your own ink. All colors work well with this stamp. Also note, hastily carved using a new technique so don't get your hopes up for a work of art impression!
