MISSING IN ACTION 3/10/07 - Ladyfish

Enter Myakka State Park west of I-75 on SR 72 via main gate. Be sure to pick up park brochure which includes map. Follow map to tram/airboat/concession area. Park in this area and walk to Outpost store. Leave store by back door, walk down ramp. At bottom of ramp take dirt trail at 90° into woods.

Pass large oak tree on edge of trail on right. From here head to large oak tree on left side of trail which at about 15 feet up forks into a "Y", with one large limb making up left side of "Y" and three large limbs making up right side of "Y". Stand by this oak and look about 100 feet further down trail to where there is a large oak on the left side of the trail which at about 25 feet up forks into a "Y". Walk towards that oak. At that oak start counting regular size steps and walk 37 steps down dirt trail where you will be in between oak trees on either side of trail. Look to the left and you will see a very large fallen tree, walk towards root end of this tree. (Look up, the buzzards will be watching!!)

Go to the middle of root ball and look opposite root ball at large oak tree with "arms spread wide". Letterbox is under roots and fronds and moss on left side of this tree.
