2 boxes, fun hikes, gorgeous scenery, plan a couple of hours to complete both. Easy terrain. Bring your camera.

This is a story of the continuing adventures of Pinky whom you may have met while walking in de forest. The story goes that when Pinky returned to the Hi-Ways, Bi-Ways and I-Ways, Pinky met up with his young friend Little Green Monkey who is normally known to travel with the Puddlejumpers. Being as adventuresome as Pinky, Little Green Monkey asked Pinky to join him in a round of "par free golf". He then told him about his friend Glen who had such a golf course, but that he hadn't checked it out yet.

Well, Pinky was eager for another diversion from his world travels and accepted the monkey's invitation. So Pinky and Little Green Monkey set out together. They traveled north and then west. Pinky commented "dis is beautiful countryside", to which Little Green Monkey replied, "oh, you haven't seen nothing yet!". As they traveled along, Pinky recognized the area up ahead as the home of Susie the Duck. Pinky queried, "do you spose Susie is home? She serves up the best quackers!" Little Green Monkey said he hasn't seen Susie for quite some time now, but that his friend Glen was waiting for them and they must hurry on their way. Therefore, Pinky and the Monkey headed north to "ferry-land". Little Green Monkey said something about a box there, but Pinky just didn't understand what he was talking about. They crossed on over to a merri land and followed the hiway they had been traveling until they came to Glen's sign pointing east on DL.

Upon arriving at Glen's, Pinky and Little Green Monkey looked about in confusion. "Do you see Glen anywhere?" asked Pinky. "No", said Little Green Monkey, "let's go that way on the gravel trail ahead". "It sure looks busy here, I wonder if Glen saved our tee time?" Little Green Monkey added.

Pinky and Little Green Monkey walked along, enjoying the scenery while discussing their golf game. Pinky even had the urge to hum a little of his favorite song "...under the board walk.....". I suppose walking on the boardwalk reminded Pinky of his walk in de forest and it is so hard to get some songs out of your head. Little Green Monkey was a bit annoyed by all that humming, because with a nose like Pinky's it was a bit nasal. There was even an echo which really annoyed the monkey.

After some time, Pinky and Little Green Monkey found they couldn't go any further and hadn't yet met up with Glen. They sat by the waterfall shaking their heads in confusion. This certainly didn't look like a golf course they had ever played before. Little Green Monkey was sure he had the right spot, but felt he needed to apologize to Pinky. "I'm sorry Pinky, I must have the wrong place." "Oh, dats ok", said Pinky "I sure enjoyed dis walk". Pinky was leaning against the wooden fence at the end of the trail, when all of a sudden it broke like a toothpick under his weight. "Oh!" cried Pinky, "now I've done it!" "tsk, tsk" said Little Green Monkey "don't fret over that, we can stop at Menards to pick up supplies to fix that! Just count up the vertical posts. We will replace those and then the rest will be easy to repair."

With that, Pinky and Little Green Monkey walked back to where they started. "I'm hungry" complained Pinky. "Perfect" said Little Green Monkey "Lets go over there to the south east of the parking area. I see two stumps we can sit on to have a snack." Pinky wasn't sure bananas were his favorite, but Little Green Monkey shared willingly. After their snack, Little Green Monkey stashed an extra banana under the fallen "y" tree so he could have another snack after returning from Menards with the supplies to make their repairs on the fence. He thought, "y, makes me think of yellow and yellow makes me think of bananas!"

Now, this adventure has had a few unexpected events, but Pinky and Little Green Monkey were enjoying their day nonetheless. Pinky all of a sudden had this really odd thought..."what is dis road we are on?" he asked hauntingly. "DL?" questioned Little Green Monkey. "Yes!" exclaimed Pinky, "now isn't that spooky?" Little Green Monkey looked at Pinky with big eyes and said in a squeaky monkey voice, "I don't know, is it?" "Of course it is", said Pinky "because over dere is a place of demons, snakes and vertical drop-offs or is dat ascents?" "I spose that depends on which way you are going, up or down" squeaked Little Green Monkey. "Yes", said Pinky and "dis DL road leads right past dat place. Do you know what DL stands for? Think about it!" Pinky and Little Green Monkey hurried on past that place. There is no reason to stop on this trip unless you are looking for demons, snakes and vertical things that go up or down.

"159-12-33......159-12-33.....159-12-33.....159-12-33....." Pinky began chanting to himself as they continued on their way. "What are you saying?" asked Little Green Monkey. "Well", chuckled Pinky "dat sign dere with 159 reminded me of my school locker combination and you know how I have trouble getting things out of my head once dey are dere". "You had a triple digit locker combo" gasped Little Green Monkey. "Well, yes, I'm a big fella and I had a big locker and a big lock with a.....oh never mind. Let's take this road and see where it leads. I would sure like to play some golf."

Well, Pinky and Little Green Monkey decided to follow 159 to 12 north and found they went right past Menards! That was too convienient. After making repairs, they returned to Menards and continued on 12 to 33. "Wait", said Little Green Monkey. "Is it safe to go in there?" "Where?" asked Pinky "Isn't this circus city? What will they think when they see you and me traveling together?" "Umh", thought Pinky, My friend Cubbie Bear lives near here and he says there are a lot of clowns around, but those keystone guys are harmless". "I'll tell you what, if anyone stops us, I'll just tell them you are Curious George and....." "Yeah, I'll say I'm with Dumbo....and we know the man with the yellow hat will bail us out."

Pinky was going to comment again when suddenly, just after turning east on 33 at the stop lights, Pinky cried "Boo-U!". "Boo-who?" asked Little Green Monkey "Boo-U, not Boo-hoo" said Pinky. "I said Boo-who, not Boo-hoo" said Little Green Monkey. "Boo-U!" "Boo-you?" "No, Boo-U!" "Boo....?" pondered Little Green Monkey, "what are you talking about?"

"The Lions!" "The Lions?" "Yes, the Lions....." "Are they from the circus too?" asked Little Green Monkey. "No, de Lions play a friendly game of golf at Boo-U!, said Pinky. "They do?" "Yes, follow me" shouted Pinky as he turned to go north on Connie Rd to Boo-U. If they had a car, they would park it in the lot, but since they are traveling on foot, this was not necessary. They ran to the Lions sign where they found a map and information about the golf course. "I don't think I've ever played golf like dis before" said Pinky. "Dis golf is strange!" "Yes", said Little Green Monkey "But you know," thought Pinky, "those lions have to share a circus ring with those jugglers. If I were one of those lions, I would snatch a saucer or two as well. The juggler always gets the applause. When the juggler asks for his saucers back, the Lions laugh and throw them and tell the juggler to just try to find it. I'm sure that is how this game was invented."

Pinky and Little Green Monkey decided to walk the course to check it out. They noted the number of each hole as well as the par of each. When they came to a hole that was triple the number of vertical posts at Glen's place, they crossed a footbridge and to their suprise, out jumped Glen from under the bridge. "Glen, what are you doing here", exclaimed Little Green Monkey. "Well", said Glen sheepishly, the state people own the place with my name on it and they like to keep it kind of natural, so I couldn't build my golf course there. I promised you a round of golf, so the Lions and I built this course. It's free you know!"

"Well, that sounds great Glen", said Little Green Monkey, "where are you staying these days?" "Oh, I make my home right here under the bridge" Glen said shyly. I've always wanted a home on the golf course and now I have it." Glen invited Pinky and Little Green Monkey to join him under the bridge.

After several rounds of golf, Pinky looked at his watch and exclaimed "oh look, it's getting late. I'ts nearly November and I have to be on my way!" Pinky thanked them both for a great adventure, graciously exchanged handshakes, then embraced in hugs, the kind that say "thanks for the memories fellas". As Pinky departed back to the Hi-ways, Bi-ways and I-ways, he thought to himself, "was there ever a better adventure?"
