Box has been taken, will be replaced late Sept'08

What a lovely little park!!! This will be one of the easiest letterbox finds ever, but first you've got to find the park! From hwy 58 between Clarksville and South Boston, turn north on Buffalo Springs Rd. go about three miles and turn right on Carter's Point Rd and park is at the end (less than 2 miles.) From the park entrance, follow the road, passing two small parking areas, to the beach parking lot. Once there, park and locate map marque. The map give the viewer a perspective of how long the coast line of this lake really is, as well as boating safety tips! From the mapstand, walk along the edge of the parking lot toward the point untill you get to the final space in that row. Thee white line should point to a break in the wood fence which you can walk through. Stand in the open space and face the collapsing bank (notice several warning signs along this side of the point opposite the beach area.) While looking in the general direction of the large pavillion and picnic area you should notice a broken tree and it's broken off hollow log almost midway to the picnic area from where you stand. It is laying on it's side and the hole has been covered by leaves and sticks. (I'm so glad I have boys to do the "dirty" work!) Please try to replace as best you can.

Enjoy the point, you can walk the beach quite far when the water is low, the dock is a great place to sit and look for eagles, and the beach is full of endless joys - be careful for glass as we have found many pieces and dispose of them in the trash when we do. Do wade in just far enough to stir up the mica rich sand at the bottom and send it glittering in the water! And always be on the lookout for bald eagles which reside in the area as well as local canadian geese!
