SORRY>>>Tale of four trails...all four are missing!

This is a nice place for a day hike. The letterboxes are relatively close together. Approximate time to complete: 1.5 hours. The terrain is rolling, but the trails are well maintained mostly woodchip trails. I highly recommend that you take the time to bring a daypack with snacks and a water bottle and enjoy the trails. There is a picnic area as well as benches for those who prefer a slower pace.

Park your car at 8737 W. Bush Lake Road. (Richardson Nature Center) There is free parking from dawn to dusk.
Walk toward the Main Entrance past the brown “Nature Center” sign. Follow the brick road until it ends keeping the building to your left. The large brown sign will give you several choices…take the “Oak” trial to the right-up the hill. At the park bench follow the trial named after a famous Colorado town. You will walk up a small hill and see a pond on your left and a large dead oak tree. From this point take 20 steps and on your left down a small embankment you will see a large oak tree supporting some broken branches. Here you will find letterbox #1.

Retrace your steps until you see the park bench again and at the point of decision make sure you make the “right” one. You will be looking for the “pond” letter box next. Walk onto the dock quietly and pause to view the wildlife. Continue until the dock ends, then walk up a small hill to a path of giants. From the crest of the hill take 15steps and you will see a fallen giant on your right. Near the foot of the fallen giant you will find letterbox #2.

Follow the path in the same direction you were previously going and at the point of decision, don’t be left making the wrong decision and stay on the straight and narrow.
When you see the numbered post that makes a birthday “sweet”. Leave “chip” behind and aim right up the hill on a grass path. Very shortly you will find a place to rest your feet. Take a moment to enjoy this view it is particularly beautiful just after sunrise, at dusk, and when the flowers are in bloom! If it were winter you could watch the ski jumpers.
Behind the benches is a small hidden trail. Take 50steps and on your right there is a fallen mossy tree that appears to be watching you with another fallen tree leading to it. Letterbox # 3 is hidden where the two meet. Return to the benches and you’ll have a nice place to stamp. Be sure to hide the box well!

Now, back down the hill – return to “chip” and turn right. A short distance away; visit the “Friend of Nature”, and to it’s left you will see a tree with a large rock and letterbox #4 hidden amongst 3 smaller ones. You are only a short distance away from the nature center, as you head up the last incline you may see some wild turkeys! Take some time to visit the nature center. There is a lot of great information, a drinking fountain and toilet facilities. If you go upstairs there is a nice place to view birds, and the turkeys sometimes hang out back there as well. Check this letterbox again, I hope to add more
