The original Indian Chapel was built in 1830 by Fr. Badin. In 1906 a replica of Badin's log chapel was reconstructed from a manuscript's floor plan. A story and a half cedar cabin (40 feet by 24 feet), its timbers were hand-hewn by William Arnett, an ex-slave from Kentucky. The Indian Chapel was the center of Father Badin's missionary activities throughout Northern Indiana and Southern Michigan. The Chapel is still used today for special events including weddings. Once you find the Indian Chapel, the quest for your treasure begins.
Nestled between the pines, the Chapel sits quietly. Standing with the Chapel’s front door to your back, proceed past the resting place of Jacquelyn Ann Smith and an old dry well. Turn left at the lamp lighting the paths. Cross the road and follow the walkway. Water will be on your left, and a resting place on the right. Look for the C. H. sign and head northwest on the road which passes before it. Enjoy the scenery as you hike up the hill. On your left you will see a wrought iron fence protecting the hallowed ground. Enter the grounds through the arched entrance on the north end. The ghosts of many gone before are all around so respect their resting place. Proceed to the Southwest corner and exit through a break in the fence. Walk around the grove of trees and head toward the water. When you reach the path near the water proceed to the left until you see man made divider that is perpendicular to the path. A tree that is west of the divider is centered between the third and fourth post from the path. The tree is about sixty paces from the divider. The tree has as many trunks as an octopus has tenacles. The base of the tree has a cave which protects the treasure you seek.

When replacing the box, please take care hide it when others are not around to insure it will be in place for the next treasure hunter. We hope you enjoy the walk and solving the mystery.

Let us know when you find it!
