This is the fifth planting of our craft letterbox series. We were at the Altamont Apple Fest (Altamont Fair Grounds). Since there was no good place to hid our box there, I ventured into the community and found a small town park that was ideal.

From Route 20 in the hamlet of Dunnsville, take Dunnsville Road south to Gun Club Road which is just past the Bozenkill River.

Turn left into Altamont Town Park and proceed to the parking lot. After parking your car follow the black top path to the small ball field. A fire hydrant is at the end of the path. There is a chain link fence to your right. Follow it to the LEFT. At the end stand with your back to the post. If you extend your left arm it should be parallel to the fence. Take a sight straight ahead and you will see a black locust tree. Cross the wide grassy path and walk up to the tree. There is a lot of berry bushes in your way but no poison ivy. Carefully pick your way to the tree and you will see a small downed tree immediately in front of it. Look to the right at the trunk-root end and under there you will find the letterbox covered with bark and sticks and leaves.
