This is a nice little walk in an area Maintained by the Monadnock Garden Club called The Dora N. Spalding Nature Trail. Located on Poole Rd on the way up to the Rangers station on Mt Monadnock. Look for the Trail sign "Dora N. Spalding Tr. Monadnock Garden Club" on the right of Poole Rd. Less than a 1/2 hour to complete the trail and stamp in.

Park on the shoulder, off the pavement and walk down the trail to the trail head map..take one if its available as it shows the Nature trail in numbers. Sign the visitor's log if you would like.

To begin you will go right through the rock wall and past the violets and ferns. Past #3 you will come to a stone bench that is engraved...behind the bench is 2 Birch trees that are growing close together. Stand behind the birch trees facing away from the Trail and walk 20 paces to a fallen tree. At the stump of that tree covered with sticks is the Flower Power Letterbox. (Please rehide as the garden club members come to clean up the area quite often).

Return to the trail past Meeting Place Hill past the Forest opening and the trillium. Walk through the dell by going down the stairs and check out the stream and the area's planting's.

Walk up the other set of stairs and through the HUGE gorgeous Rhododendron path way. Continue on trail with stone wall on your right until you see a short bench made of stone sitting under the Rhododendron's. This is around #9 on the map. Sit down on the bench and reach around the back and under to find the Lucky Leaf Letterbox. Please rehide the same way under the bench hidden from sight..try not to push the box too far under so others can find it later. Continue around the trails or follow the rock wall all the way back to the map sign.

Every summer I plan on adding more stamps to this trail. I love this trail and visit quite often when camping up at the Mt Monanock Camping area. I recommend the camp ground as its pretty quiet and "good people" camp and work there as well.
