I have decided to retire my boxes located in Florida and move them further north where I can watch after them a little easier. My thanks to all who have visited this location and signed into the log.

"YERTLE"

NEW BOX, NEW LOCATION

There once was a turtle named Yertle,
The eggs in her belly quite fertile.
She crawled in the sand,
not used to the land,
and layed her eggs past a hurdle.

Okay, so my limerick isn't so polished, but the Loggerhead Turtle is the most common sea turtle in Florida. They nest between April and September. They are one of the largest of the hard shell turtles, with adults weighing 200-350 pounds and up to 38 inches in length.

The female will go ashore at night and dig her nest in the sand with her flippers. As many as 125 white leathery eggs may be laid. After aprox. 68 days, any eggs which have not fallen to predators, hatch. The young Loggerheads struggle from the sand nest and make their way to the sea.

Since boxes are frequently swiped in this area, please email me and I will gladly provide you with the clues to find the new Yertle's Box. I will require that you have placed at least 5 previous boxes though. This is a "placer's reward" find.

Happy boxing.
